Not knowing the correct nomenclature for footwear but I'm guessing they are classed as either a shoe or a low quarter ankle boot?

Any way what are the best out there and who supplies them?

MIKE.

Mainly due to cost issues elsewhere, I'm afraid I've bought at least one pair from SOF each year at Beltring.
Until last year they were some Mexican-made things, that you had to bend over the nails that were sticking through the inners, took weeks to break in and then rarely lasted 4 months before the soles and/or heels fell off.
However, in amongst the regular ones last year were some new ones by Sturm. Lovely, like wearing slippers from day one, and a decent dyed finish rather than the plasticky gunk previously used. As for the endurance: a 50% improvement on the Mexican ones, but the sole stitching still failed at the toe end after 6 months. :(

The saying "You get what you pay for" kind of applies here. The ATF service shoes are made in China for what that's worth. I have two pairs. The first pair I bought split at the shank of the sole after only about 6 months and I had to take them to a shoe repair shop. I had leather soles put on them (as opposed to the half rubber sole) so now I may be the only person out there with a pair of reproduction type 1 service shoes :)

The second pair I've had for over a year and are fine so far. I also have a pair of SM Wholesale service shoes which are the best of the bunch that I have but are more expensive.

I also have a pair of SM Wholesale service shoes which I think are the best of what I own but they were more expensive.

Alot of people swear by WWII Impressions service shoes but again they are not "cheap".

I had mine fron ATF since 2006 and they FINALLY gave up the ghost and I use them for my work boots while we work the 24 and such so I guess I use them more than a weekend long.
