Just for you bird dog!
I removed these pictures a while ago but any how here they are again , the top one shows some semi crushed engine mounts , the second shows the other side of the main pile , this is were all the hollow steel curtis electric prop blades came from.
Some were bent from crashes some had bullet holes in them and the last picture shows the remains of a B17 wing , this is the area that i found the B17 top turret along with the nose section remains and the marauder tail and bomb door.............sadly all gone! :(
In fact i went past the yard entrance only three days ago and it is a pretty little housing estate ! :?

I`ve just noticed , the forty five gallon oil drums with the heavy steel bands are proper WW2 pattern drums and in the last picture you can actually see the marauder bomb door , it has curve cast lugs sticking out and underneath that is the marauder tail.

Holy jumpin' jehosephat!!

Now that is an awesome sight

Very very cool Colin - AAF/RAF Junkyard porn

Thank you for taking time to find this stuff out & post - I really appreciate seeing this!

I will have fun with a couple of these on Facebook, might jog someones memory of other sites that processed similar salvage or maybe even stuff still lying around forgotten in the undergrowth.

i found these two pictures on another web page i hope the author does`nt mind them being used but this is the same scrap yard at warrington many moons ago.....................ooooh if i could only go back to when this B17 cockpit was there!
I just had a thought the other day all the stuff that i did manage to save had been in that yard for a least thirty five years .................can you see that happening today?

B-17 wing section buried in that mountain of radial engine mounts in the background too!
Pratt & Whitney radial lying face down in the front right as well.

Just had another look at the up turned B17 cockpit and if look behind the nose section underneath the wing section you can just make the B26 marauder rear fuselage which also got saved.

The attatched colour picture is of the same fuselage but taken from the other side............
