Can all group COs contact me ASAP regarding availability in any capacity on Monday May 27th please.

There will be a memorial dedicated close to the 1941 control tower at Alconbury that day, to commemorate the nineteen guys, mostly ground crew, from the 95th Bomb Group who lost their lives in the pre-mission explosion on the 27th May 1943.

I'd really like to be able to have us provide a suitable display of "stuff" to support the memorial dedication, and am more than open to suggestions as to the best way to proceed.

Working on base, and being an instigator of the memorial project, this is something very important to me, and I hope between us we can put on A Good Show all round.

Thanks in advance,
PB

After having a chat with Paul today it became apparent that this event needs attending and promoting before the site is lost forever.

I will leave Paul to post details etc as he is the man in the know.

So guys lets make this a mission and one to remember.

MIKE.

It's my daughters 8th birthday on the Tuesday and we were supposed to be having the party etc on the Sunday of this dedication, however if I can re-jig the party, I would be honoured attend and pay tribute to the brave lads who lost their lives. Mikes right this event needs to be attended, not only to honour the fellas who served, not only to show that these sites are still of importance, but also to support one of our own.

Thanks to all who've been in touch so far. :)

We've been making slow but steady progress, I have another site meeting on Tuesday to hopefully pull everything together. I really want to wrap this up during the week, so should have some clearer news for you all by next weekend.

Righto all,

We have the USAF on board, and they've said that actually holding it on the anniversary would be possible. Although the day's main services will be at Madingley in the morning, they have suggested that the Alconbury ceremony could be done in the afternoon.

If that helps those who would be at Duxford on the Sunday to attend please let me know, as we're looking at getting the official invites out in the next week or so so the Sunday/Monday decision need making quickly.

Those who have kindly offered to bring stuff for display, space is being made available for you, hopefully indoors but we're still working on how much covered space will be free.
Refreshments etc. will be provided.

More info as I get it... :)
